TX-09 – Tlaxcaltec Warriors
The Tlaxcaltecs played a crucial role in the Spanish campaign against the Aztec Empire. Initially fighting against Hernán Cortés and his men, the Tlaxcalans subsequently formed an alliance with the Spaniards and supplied thousands of warriors to the campaign against their traditional Aztec enemies.
TX-09 – Tlaxcaltec Warriors represents some of these Indigenous allies, whose contribution was essential to the forces that eventually marched against Tenochtitlan.
The figures provide an opportunity to build a collection that goes beyond the simplified image of Spanish conquistadors fighting the Aztecs alone, instead showing the important role played by rival Mesoamerican peoples.
