USBS-02 – Brigadier-General John Buford

Brigadier-General John Buford became one of the most respected Union cavalry commanders of the American Civil War and is particularly remembered for his crucial role during the opening stages of the Battle of Gettysburg on 1 July 1863.

Recognising the tactical importance of the high ground around Gettysburg, Buford deployed his cavalry west of the town and conducted a determined delaying action against approaching Confederate forces. His men bought valuable time until Union infantry arrived and helped shape the battlefield upon which the great three-day struggle would unfold.

USBS-02 – Brigadier-General John Buford portrays this important Union commander and makes a natural centrepiece for a Federal cavalry collection or Gettysburg display.

For collectors of American Civil War history, Brigadier-General John Buford is available from The Military Workshop as an important John Jenkins personality figure representing one of the key commanders of the Gettysburg campaign.
