By the summer of 1863, the Union Cavalry Corps was developing into a far more capable battlefield force than it had been during the earlier years of the Civil War.

USBS-28A – Union Cavalry represents one of those horsemen during the Battle of Brandy Station. Union forces crossed the Rappahannock intending to disrupt Confederate cavalry gathered around Culpeper, only for the operation to develop into an enormous mounted battle lasting much of the day.

The figure provides another valuable pose for collectors building the Army of the Potomac’s cavalry. Arranged alongside USBS-28B and the larger cavalry sets, it helps create a formation in which individual riders appear to be moving and fighting independently.
