The Battle of Brandy Station, fought on 9 June 1863, developed into the largest predominantly cavalry engagement of the American Civil War. Thousands of Union and Confederate horsemen fought across the Virginia countryside in a sprawling battle that demonstrated the growing confidence and effectiveness of the Union cavalry.

USBS-28B – Union Cavalry represents a mounted soldier of the Army of the Potomac’s Cavalry Corps during this dramatic engagement. Union cavalrymen went into action armed with combinations of carbines, pistols and sabres, with close-quarter mounted fighting often becoming confused and violent.

Combined with the other USBS-28 cavalry figures, this rider can form part of a sweeping mounted attack, a developing melee or a squadron manoeuvring across open ground.
