By the later years of the American Civil War, Union cavalry had developed into a powerful and increasingly effective battlefield force. No longer confined primarily to scouting and screening duties, mounted troops could conduct raids, fight dismounted and take part in major cavalry engagements.

USBS2-12 – Cavalry Corps, 2nd U.S. Cavalry Regiment represents a mounted soldier from one of the U.S. Regular Army’s established cavalry regiments.

The horse and rider add considerable movement and visual impact to a Civil War display and can be combined with other mounted releases to create a substantial Union cavalry formation.
