A Viking “charge” wasn’t a modern cavalry-style assault. It usually meant:

  • Running forward on foot from a ship landing or shield wall position
  • Closing distance quickly to overwhelm enemies
  • Shouting or using battle cries to intimidate opponents
  • Throwing spears or javelins before melee contact
  • Transitioning immediately into close combat (axes, swords, or spears)
