WAD-20 – Ford Model T “Silent Sue”
Light, relatively simple and famously dependable, the Ford Model T proved surprisingly well suited to military operations across the deserts of the Middle East during the First World War.
WAD-20 – Ford Model T “Silent Sue” represents one of the vehicles operated by the Australian 1st Light Car Patrol in 1917. These modified cars gave small Australian patrols the ability to cover substantial distances, conduct reconnaissance and operate with a degree of independence impossible for troops travelling on foot.
The individually named Silent Sue makes an impressive display piece, particularly when combined with its three-man crew to create a complete operational vehicle.
The Military Workshop is pleased to offer WAD-20 – a fascinating John Jenkins model representing the resourcefulness and mobility of Australian troops in the desert campaigns of the Great War.
