WAD-22 – Ford Model T “Imshi”
The humble Ford Model T might seem an unlikely military vehicle, yet its simplicity, reliability and light weight made it remarkably useful during the desert campaigns of the First World War.
WAD-22 – Ford Model T “Imshi” represents one of the vehicles of the Australian 1st Light Car Patrol in 1917. Adapted for military service, these cars provided valuable mobility for reconnaissance and patrol work across the vast expanses of the Middle Eastern theatre.
The individually named “Imshi” makes a particularly distinctive centrepiece when displayed with its driver, machine gunner and dismounting crew figures, allowing an entire patrol scene to be constructed around the vehicle.
Available from The Military Workshop – an impressive John Jenkins vehicle depicting one of the fascinating early examples of Australian motorised warfare.
