WB79-03 - Standard Bearer, 79th (Draper's) Regiment of Foot | John Jenkins Designs

This figure represents a standard bearer of the British 79th (Draper's) Regiment of Foot during the Third Carnatic War and the Battle of Wandewash on 22 January 1760.

The 79th Regiment was originally formed in November 1757 and subsequently served in India, where British forces were engaged in campaigns against the French.

Under the command of Major Brereton, the regiment took part in the military operations of the period, including the decisive British victory at Wandewash.

Regimental standard bearers performed a significant ceremonial and practical role within eighteenth-century armies, carrying the colours that identified their unit.

WB79-03 provides collectors with another standard bearer option for their representation of the 79th Regiment.

It complements WB79-02 and can be displayed alongside the regiment's officer, drummer and line infantry figures to create a more extensive military formation.

The figure is particularly suited to collectors assembling British forces for a Battle of Wandewash diorama.
