WB79-07N2 - 79th (Draper's) Regiment of Foot, Line Infantry Set | John Jenkins Designs

This larger infantry set represents soldiers of the British 79th (Draper's) Regiment of Foot during the Battle of Wandewash on 22 January 1760.

The 79th Regiment was formed in 1757 and served in India during the Third Carnatic War, part of the wider conflict between Britain and France during the Seven Years War.

British regular infantry units were frequently divided into detachments for service across India, rather than operating exclusively as complete battalions.

At Wandewash, British forces commanded by Sir Eyre Coote defeated the French army led by the Comte de Lally, a victory that had important consequences for the French position in southern India.

WB79-07N2 provides collectors with a larger group of infantry figures for developing their representation of the 79th Regiment.

The set complements WB79-07 and the other line infantry releases, enabling more substantial British regimental formations to be assembled.

It can also be displayed alongside the regiment's command figures and the 84th (Coote's) Regiment to create a broader British Army scene.
