WB79-08 - 79th (Draper's) Regiment of Foot, Line Infantry | John Jenkins Designs

WB79-08 represents British line infantry from the 79th (Draper's) Regiment of Foot during the Seven Years War and the Battle of Wandewash in southern India.

Originally raised in November 1757, the regiment was initially designated the 64th before being renumbered as the 79th Regiment of Foot.

Under the command of Major Brereton, the regiment served in India during the campaigns against French forces. Its participation at Wandewash formed part of the British military effort under Sir Eyre Coote.

The victory at Wandewash in January 1760 weakened the French position and contributed to the eventual surrender of Pondicherry the following year.

This infantry release provides another selection of soldiers for collectors assembling the British 79th Regiment.

WB79-08 can be combined with WB79-07 and the corresponding larger infantry sets to create a more extensive battlefield formation.

The figures also complement the 79th Regiment's officers, standard bearers and drummer, as well as the 84th Regiment and British Sepoy releases.
