WB84-01 - Officer, 84th (Coote's) Regiment of Foot | John Jenkins Designs
This figure represents an officer of the British 84th (Coote's) Regiment of Foot during the Battle of Wandewash, fought on 22 January 1760 in southern India.
Raised in January 1759 specifically for service in India, the 84th Regiment played a role in the British campaigns against French forces during the Third Carnatic War, part of the wider Seven Years War.
Under the command of Sir Eyre Coote, British forces confronted the French army led by the Comte de Lally at Wandewash. The resulting British victory proved decisive in the struggle for European influence in southern India.
This officer figure provides an important command element for collectors assembling the 84th Regiment. It can be displayed alongside the regiment's standard bearer, drummer and line infantry to create a more complete British formation.
The figure also complements the opposing French forces represented in the Battle of Wandewash collection, making it a suitable addition to larger historical battlefield displays.
