WBS-03 - Two British Sepoys | John Jenkins Designs
WBS-03 depicts two Indian Sepoys serving with British forces during the Battle of Wandewash, fought in southern India on 22 January 1760.
Indian soldiers formed an important component of the East India Company's military establishment during the eighteenth century.
Initially, locally recruited troops were organised into relatively informal units, often under their own leaders. As the Company's military commitments expanded, Indian soldiers were increasingly trained, organised and equipped according to European military practices.
By the time of the Third Carnatic War, Sepoy units had become an established component of British military operations in India, serving alongside British regular infantry.
This two-figure set represents the Indian soldiers associated with the British forces during the struggle against the French army commanded by the Comte de Lally.
The figures complement the other British Sepoy releases and can be combined with troops of the 79th and 84th Regiments of Foot.
WBS-03 provides collectors with an opportunity to represent the Indian contribution to the British forces during this important period of military history.
Set includes: 2 British Sepoy figures.
