WFLAL-01 - Officer, Lally's (Irish) Regiment | John Jenkins Designs

WFLAL-01 represents an officer serving with Lally's Irish Regiment in the French Army during the Seven Years War and the Third Carnatic War in India.

The regiment, ranked 109th in the French Army, was commanded by Thomas Arthur, Comte de Lally-Tollendal, and played an important role in the French campaigns against British forces in southern India.

In March 1757, the regiment's second battalion departed Brest for India as part of a French expedition intended to reinforce the military position on the Coromandel Coast.

After arriving in April 1758, the battalion took part in operations against Fort St. David and subsequently participated in the unsuccessful Siege of Madras between December 1758 and February 1759.

On 22 January 1760, the battalion fought at the Battle of Wandewash against British forces commanded by Sir Eyre Coote.

This officer figure provides a command element for collectors assembling Lally's Irish Regiment.

It can be displayed alongside the regiment's standard bearer, drummer and infantry figures to create a more complete French formation.
