WFLAL-02 - Standard Bearer, Lally's (Irish) Regiment | John Jenkins Designs

This figure represents a standard bearer of Lally's Irish Regiment serving in the French Army during the Third Carnatic War and the Battle of Wandewash on 22 January 1760.

Lally's Irish Regiment was ranked 109th in the French Army and served under the command of the Comte de Lally-Tollendal during the French campaigns in India.

The regiment's second battalion arrived on the Coromandel Coast in April 1758, subsequently participating in the Siege of Fort St. David and the unsuccessful operations against Madras.

Regimental colours held considerable significance within eighteenth-century European armies, identifying military units and representing their history and traditions.

This standard bearer provides a distinctive addition to the French infantry collection, allowing collectors to include the regiment's colours among their assembled troops.

The figure complements the Officer (WFLAL-01) and Drummer (WFLAL-03), providing the basis for a regimental command group.

It can also be displayed alongside the other infantry releases from Lally's Regiment to create a larger French formation representing the Battle of Wandewash.
