WFLAL-05 - Lally's (Irish) Regiment, French Line Infantry | John Jenkins Designs
WFLAL-05 represents infantry serving with Lally's Irish Regiment in the French Army during the Battle of Wandewash on 22 January 1760.
Lally's Regiment was a French Army unit commanded by Thomas Arthur, Comte de Lally-Tollendal, during the Seven Years War.
Its second battalion departed France in March 1757 and arrived on the Coromandel Coast in April 1758, where it took part in military operations against British forces.
The battalion participated in the Siege of Fort St. David and the unsuccessful Siege of Madras before becoming involved in further campaigning throughout southern India.
In January 1760, the regiment fought at Wandewash, where the British army commanded by Sir Eyre Coote defeated the French forces.
This infantry release allows collectors to represent the soldiers of Lally's Regiment during the Third Carnatic War.
WFLAL-05 can be combined with the larger WFLAL-05N2 set and other infantry releases to build a more substantial French formation.
The figures also complement the regiment's officer, standard bearer and drummer, as well as the French Cipaye figures from the same historical collection.
