WFLAL-08 - Lally's (Irish) Regiment, French Line Infantry | John Jenkins Designs

WFLAL-08 represents French line infantry serving with Lally's Irish Regiment during the Battle of Wandewash on 22 January 1760.

Lally's Regiment was ranked 109th in the French Army during the Seven Years War and served under the command of Thomas Arthur, Comte de Lally-Tollendal.

The regiment's second battalion was deployed to India as part of the French effort to challenge British influence in southern India.

After arriving in April 1758, the battalion participated in the operations against Fort St. David and the unsuccessful Siege of Madras.

It later fought at the Battle of Wandewash, where British forces commanded by Sir Eyre Coote achieved a decisive victory over the French army.

Following Wandewash, the regiment remained involved in the defence of Pondicherry until the French surrender in January 1761.

This infantry release provides another selection of soldiers for collectors assembling Lally's Irish Regiment.

WFLAL-08 complements the other French line infantry releases and can be combined with the corresponding WFLAL-08N set to develop a larger regimental formation.

The figures are suited to historical displays featuring the French forces of the Third Carnatic War.
