WFLAL-08N - Lally's (Irish) Regiment, French Line Infantry Set | John Jenkins Designs

WFLAL-08N represents a larger group of infantry soldiers from Lally's Irish Regiment serving in the French Army during the Battle of Wandewash in January 1760.

The regiment formed part of the French military forces deployed to India during the Seven Years War, where Britain and France were competing for political and military influence.

Its second battalion arrived in India in April 1758 and participated in the campaigns against British positions along the Coromandel Coast.

The regiment took part in the Siege of Fort St. David, the unsuccessful Siege of Madras and the Battle of Wandewash, where French forces under the Comte de Lally were defeated by the British army commanded by Sir Eyre Coote.

Following the battle, the regiment continued to serve in the defence of Pondicherry before the French surrender in January 1761.

This larger infantry release provides collectors with additional soldiers for assembling a substantial representation of Lally's Irish Regiment.

It can be combined with WFLAL-08 and the other infantry sets, together with the officer, standard bearer and drummer, to create a complete regimental display.

The figures also complement the French Cipaye releases and the opposing British forces from the Battle of Wandewash collection.
