WIN-01 – Major General Arthur Wellesley
Before becoming the Duke of Wellington and achieving lasting fame for his victory over Napoleon at Waterloo, Arthur Wellesley established much of his early military reputation while serving in India.
Wellesley arrived in India in 1797 and took part in the campaigns against Tipu Sultan of Mysore, including the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War of 1799. His experience in India proved enormously important in developing the organisational ability, battlefield judgement and attention to logistics that would later characterise his command in Europe.
WIN-01 – Major General Arthur Wellesley portrays one of Britain's most famous commanders during this earlier chapter of his remarkable military career, making him a natural centrepiece for a collection depicting the armies and campaigns of British India.
The Military Workshop is pleased to offer this important John Jenkins personality figure representing the future Duke of Wellington before his legendary Napoleonic victories.
