Indian regiments serving the East India Company possessed their own established hierarchy of Indian officers and non-commissioned officers. Two important ranks were the Subedar, an Indian commissioned officer, and the Havildar, broadly comparable to a sergeant.

WINS-01A – Subedar & Havildar brings these two important figures together, representing the leadership of the 1/8th Madras Native Infantry. Their role was essential in communicating orders, maintaining discipline and providing experienced leadership to the sepoys serving under them.

The pair makes an excellent command element for a larger Madras infantry formation and adds historical depth beyond the ordinary rank-and-file soldiers.
