WIS2-01N – M. Estell and Friends | John Jenkins Designs
Behind every famous regiment were individual soldiers whose personal experiences made up the much larger story of the American Civil War.
WIS2-01N – M. Estell and Friends takes a more personal approach to the 2nd Wisconsin collection, presenting Estell together with a larger group of his fellow soldiers.
The 2nd Wisconsin entered Federal service in 1861 and was soon committed to the fighting at First Bull Run. The regiment would subsequently become associated with the Iron Brigade and endure some of the most demanding campaigns fought by the Army of the Potomac.
A group such as this is particularly effective for creating a quieter scene away from the immediate fighting. The figures can suggest comrades gathered together before battle, during a halt on campaign or in one of the countless periods of waiting that occupied a soldier's life.
Displayed alongside the more active WIS2 figures, the set helps show these men as individuals and comrades rather than simply another line of Union infantry.
Available from The Military Workshop – a characterful John Jenkins Designs set bringing a more personal dimension to the story of the 2nd Wisconsin.
