WS172 – Casualty Evacuation

Removing wounded soldiers from the battlefield was an urgent and dangerous task. Medical personnel and fellow soldiers often had to work close to the fighting, carrying casualties away from exposed positions before further treatment could be provided.

WS172 – Casualty Evacuation captures this difficult aspect of combat, depicting the evacuation of a wounded German soldier from the battlefield.
