WS291 – Flak Panzer 1A

As aircraft became an increasingly serious battlefield threat, armies needed anti-aircraft weapons capable of keeping pace with their mobile ground forces.

WS291 – Flak Panzer 1A represents an early German attempt to provide this protection by mounting a 20mm FlaK gun on a Panzer I chassis, producing a mobile anti-aircraft platform.

Its unusual open fighting compartment and compact chassis give the vehicle a very distinctive appearance compared with conventional German tanks.

Combined with WS292 Flak Panzer Gun Crew, it can form the centrepiece of an active anti-aircraft scene.
