The discovery of gold in California in 1848 triggered one of the greatest migrations in American history. Thousands of hopeful prospectors travelled west, dreaming that a lucky strike might transform their fortunes almost overnight.

WSP-127 – The Gold Rush Diggers depicts prospectors hard at work searching for the precious metal. Their working poses capture the reality behind the Gold Rush legend – long days of digging, washing and sorting through earth and gravel in the hope of finding even a small amount of gold.

Combined with other prospectors, equipment, mules and camp accessories, these figures can form part of a wonderfully detailed mining settlement or creek-side scene.
