WSP-23 – Two Mountain Men Moving Fur Bales
The romantic image of the mountain man often focuses on exploration and adventure, but the entire enterprise ultimately revolved around one commodity – fur. Beaver pelts in particular were highly valuable and were gathered into bales before being transported back towards eastern markets.
WSP-23 – Two Mountain Men Moving Fur Bales depicts the physical work involved in handling this valuable cargo. The two men are shown moving the bundled furs that represented months of difficult and often dangerous trapping in the wilderness.
This is an excellent working figure set for a rendezvous, trading post, wagon or riverside loading scene and helps explain what the fur trade was actually all about.
The Military Workshop offers WSP-23 as a superb two-figure John Jenkins set for adding authentic activity to a Rocky Mountain fur trade display.
