WSP-132 – Laundry Day | John Jenkins Designs
Not every story of the Old West involved a gunfight, a gold strike or a confrontation on the frontier. Much of daily life was occupied by ordinary jobs that still had to be done regardless of how remote or rough the surroundings might be.
WSP-132 – Laundry Day captures one of those wonderfully everyday moments.
Washing clothing in a frontier settlement could be a physically demanding task, particularly without the conveniences that would transform domestic work in later generations. Water had to be obtained and heated, clothing scrubbed by hand and then hung or laid out to dry.
It is precisely this sense of ordinary life that makes WSP-132 such a useful addition to a diorama. Positioned outside a cabin, beside a trading post or within a small settlement, the scene immediately makes the surrounding buildings appear inhabited.
Combine it with miners, traders and other civilian figures and the display begins to look less like a collection of Western characters and more like a genuine community going about its day.
Available through The Military Workshop – a charming John Jenkins Designs set that brings the everyday routines of frontier life into miniature.
