YORK-32 – Yorkist Archer

The Wars of the Roses saw the rival houses of York and Lancaster struggle for the English crown during one of the most turbulent periods of late medieval English history. Although knights and nobles dominate many accounts of these wars, the English archer remained a vital presence on the battlefield.

YORK-32 – Yorkist Archer represents one of the bowmen fighting for the Yorkist cause. Armed with the formidable English longbow, archers could send large numbers of arrows towards an opposing formation before the heavily armed men-at-arms and billmen closed for hand-to-hand combat.

This figure is especially suited to a Battle of Bosworth Field 1485 display, where the forces of King Richard III faced Henry Tudor in the decisive confrontation that brought the Plantagenet era to its dramatic end.

Available from The Military Workshop – a superb John Jenkins figure for adding another bowman to the Yorkist ranks and bringing the battlefields of the Wars of the Roses to life.
