JR-27N – Four Jacobite Lowland Infantry – Battle of Culloden
JR-27N provides four Lowland infantrymen, giving collectors an immediate foundation for one of the less commonly represented elements of Bonnie Prince Charlie's army.
At Culloden, the Jacobites faced a government force under William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, that had been trained and prepared specifically for another confrontation with the Highland army.
The government artillery inflicted casualties as the Jacobites stood exposed, while the eventual attack developed unevenly across difficult ground. Some Jacobite formations reached the government line and fought fiercely; others were unable to achieve the same momentum.
A four-man Lowland set gives the Jacobite side valuable visual variety. Combine JR-27N with JR-23, JR-24, JR-27A and JR-27B and a sizeable Lowland formation can be created alongside the clan regiments.
The result is a much more complete representation of the army that fought at Culloden.
Available from The Military Workshop – a four-piece John Jenkins Designs Lowland infantry set bringing additional numbers and historical depth to a Jacobite battlefield.
