Katherine of Aragon was Henry VIII's first wife and mother of the future Queen Mary I. Their marriage lasted for more than two decades before Henry's determination to secure an annulment helped trigger England's historic break with Rome.
Anne of Cleves, Henry's fourth wife, had an altogether shorter marriage. Their union was annulled after only a matter of months, yet Anne handled the situation remarkably well and maintained a comfortable position in England afterwards.
