KX019 – Captain Yorke | King & Country

The United States Cavalry became one of the most recognisable military forces of the American Old West, serving throughout the expanding western territories during the decades following the American Civil War.

Its soldiers were stationed at remote frontier forts, where they undertook patrols, escorted settlers and military supplies, and participated in campaigns against Native American nations resisting United States expansion.

The challenges and contradictions of frontier military life became the subject of some of Hollywood's most celebrated Western films, particularly those directed by John Ford.

Released in 1948, Fort Apache starred John Wayne as Captain Kirby York, an experienced cavalry officer serving under the newly appointed Lieutenant Colonel Owen Thursday, portrayed by Henry Fonda.

Throughout the film, Captain York attempts to balance his military duties with his knowledge of the frontier and his understanding of the dangers facing the regiment.

KX019 – Captain Yorke by King & Country recreates John Wayne's memorable cavalry officer from this classic Western.

Wearing the distinctive blue uniform of the United States Cavalry, the figure represents the experienced frontier officer whose leadership and judgement were central to the film's storyline.

Part of the King & Country John Ford's Cavalry collection, Captain Yorke is an excellent addition to a frontier military encampment, cavalry headquarters or display featuring other characters from Ford's celebrated Western films.
