M-WIN-15 – Silahdar Cavalry

The Silahdars were among the finest cavalrymen of the Maratha Empire, renowned for their skill, independence, and battlefield effectiveness. Unlike the state-equipped Bargirs, Silahdars were responsible for providing their own horses, weapons, and equipment. This often meant they were wealthier, highly experienced warriors who took great pride in the quality of their arms and the condition of their mounts.

Serving as a vital component of the Maratha armies during the 17th and 18th centuries, Silahdar cavalry excelled in rapid manoeuvre warfare. Their speed and mobility enabled them to conduct long-range raids, disrupt enemy supply lines, gather intelligence, and launch swift attacks before disappearing just as quickly. Armed with swords, spears, shields, and sometimes firearms, they combined individual skill with disciplined cavalry tactics, making them a formidable force against both Indian rivals and European armies.

Expertly sculpted and hand-painted, M-WIN-15 – Silahdar Cavalry captures the confidence and professionalism of these elite horsemen. Featuring authentic period attire, detailed weaponry, and a beautifully finished mount, this figure is an outstanding addition to any collection depicting the military history of India or the wars of the Maratha Empire.
