The German 15cm schweres Infanterie Geschütz 33, or sIG 33, provided infantry formations with powerful close-support artillery.

Its heavy 150mm projectile gave German infantry the ability to engage fortified positions, buildings and other difficult targets with considerably more destructive force than lighter infantry guns could provide.

Although heavy for an infantry weapon, the sIG 33 served throughout the Second World War and was also adapted for use on several self-propelled gun platforms.
