The spearman formed an important part of medieval infantry forces, particularly when troops needed to maintain a solid defensive line against enemy infantry or cavalry.

ALM-18A – Almoravid Spearmen brings together two warriors equipped for close-order fighting. Their spears provide a strong visual contrast to the bows carried by the Almoravid archers and help create the main fighting body of the army.

Several spearmen positioned together can form an imposing defensive line, particularly when supported by archers and command figures.
