CS00452 - US Ignitor Swabber | The Collectors Showcase

The thunder of artillery was a familiar feature of Civil War engagements. Behind every gun stood a crew responsible for preparing, loading, positioning and operating the weapon, while officers directed the work and kept the battery functioning.

The CS00452 - US Ignitor Swabber figure captures a particular moment from this wider setting. The ignitor and swabber subject concentrates on two recognisable jobs around the artillery gun. It complements the other Union gun-crew figures and helps portray the different stages of activity at a battery position.

Together with the gun, officers and serving crew, the piece helps portray the organised work and dangers of artillery service.

This 54mm Civil War subject is a strong companion to the Union Napoleon gun and artillery crew figures, helping create a fuller and more convincing battery position.
