Among the Confederate regiments associated with Pickett's Charge, the 11th Mississippi holds a particularly dramatic place. The fighting exposed its men to extraordinary danger, and the regiment paid a terrible price. Each miniature in this group captures another moment in the movement, discipline and human cost of an infantry assault.

The 11th Mississippi Drummer helps portray the regiment as an organised military body rather than only a group of men with weapons. Drums were a familiar feature of nineteenth-century armies, and the figure provides a striking change from the riflemen in the same collection. Positioned with the bugler, officer and colours, he adds depth to a display built around the regiment's battlefield story.

Part of the 54mm 11th Mississippi series, this miniature can be grouped with the regiment's officers, colours, riflemen and support figures. Together they make an evocative Confederate infantry display, particularly one inspired by the costly fighting at Pickett's Charge.
