Add another proud regiment of the Zulu Impi to your collection with GGZ-06 – Two Zulu Warriors, uThulwana Regiment, a beautifully hand-painted two-figure set depicting warriors who fought during the Battle of Gingindlovu on 2 April 1879. Available from The Military Workshop, this set represents one of the most respected and battle-hardened regiments of King Cetshwayo's army.

The uThulwana Regiment was formed in 1854 and was one of the largest regiments in the Zulu military system, numbering around 3,000 warriors. Known as the "Dust Raisers" or "Cover with Dust", the regiment was recognised by its distinctive white shields and occupied the prestigious "Chest" position in the famous "Horns of the Buffalo" battle formation. This central role required exceptional courage and discipline, as the regiment was expected to engage the enemy head-on while the "horns" swept around the flanks.

The regiment had a proud but eventful history. Internal disputes before the war tested its unity, yet when the British invaded Zululand in 1879, the uThulwana remained loyal to King Cetshwayo. Its warriors fought with great determination at Isandlwana, participated in the attack on Rorke's Drift, took part in the assault on Lord Chelmsford's relief column at Gingindlovu, and later fought at the decisive Battle of Ulundi. Their elaborate ceremonial headdress—featuring crane feathers, otter skin, monkey skin, and white ostrich plumes—was often worn into battle, making them one of the most distinctive regiments of the Zulu army.

Expertly sculpted and richly hand-painted, these two warriors capture the confidence, discipline, and striking appearance of the uThulwana Regiment. Their authentic weapons, traditional dress, and dynamic poses make them an outstanding addition to any Anglo-Zulu War display, whether advancing alongside fellow Zulu regiments or charging against the British defensive square.

GGZ-06 – Two Zulu Warriors, uThulwana Regiment is a superb addition for collectors seeking to recreate the epic battles of 1879 and honour one of the Zulu Kingdom's most famous fighting regiments.
