GWB-11 – Type J Truck
The armies of the First World War consumed supplies on an enormous scale. Ammunition, food, engineering material, medical equipment and countless other necessities had to move continuously from depots towards the front.
Motor transport became increasingly important in meeting that demand.
GWB-11 – Type J Truck represents the logistical side of the war – an area every bit as essential to military operations as the infantry and artillery fighting farther forward.
A truck can transform the character of a diorama. Place it beside unloading figures and supplies to create a depot, use it on a road behind the front or incorporate it into a larger convoy alongside horse-drawn transport.
It also illustrates the transitional nature of First World War logistics, when motor vehicles increasingly operated alongside horses and wagons rather than immediately replacing them.
Available through The Military Workshop – a superb John Jenkins Designs Type J Truck for bringing the enormous logistical effort behind the Western Front into your collection.
