GWF-51 – PCDF Moving Gun
Artillery and infantry support weapons were only useful if they could be brought into position when and where they were needed.
GWF-51 – PCDF Moving Gun portrays French soldiers engaged in the demanding physical work of repositioning a gun.
Moving equipment across the Western Front could be extraordinarily difficult. Shelling churned the ground into mud and craters, roads were damaged and even relatively small weapons could become challenging to manoeuvre without sufficient manpower.
The set captures the effort involved rather than the moment of firing. That makes it particularly effective between battle positions – perhaps showing a gun being moved into a new emplacement before an attack or shifted forward after ground has been captured.
Add walking infantry, officers and ammunition personnel around the scene and the figures become part of a much larger movement towards the front.
Available through The Military Workshop – a dynamic John Jenkins Designs French gun crew portraying the hard physical work required to move battlefield firepower across the Western Front.
