HLANC-14 – Lancastrian Archer

Battles of the Wars of the Roses could involve thousands of arrows being exchanged before the opposing lines met.

HLANC-14 – Lancastrian Archer adds another individual bowman to the Lancastrian ranks, allowing collectors to build that crucial opening phase of battle with greater variety.

Longbowmen generally carried large numbers of arrows, but sustained shooting could quickly consume them. The battlefield around an archer line would therefore become filled with arrows, equipment and movement as men continued to shoot and prepare for the possibility of close combat.

The longbow did not guarantee victory, particularly when both armies possessed archers of their own. Terrain, wind, positioning and the ability to force the enemy to advance could all influence how effectively missile troops were employed.

HLANC-14 works naturally with the other Lancastrian archer releases and can also be positioned alongside billmen as the formation begins to close with the enemy.

Available through The Military Workshop – a detailed John Jenkins Designs Lancastrian Archer adding another distinctive pose to the missile troops of your Wars of the Roses collection.
