HMRR-08Y – Hastatus – Yellow Shield
HMRR-08Y represents a single Hastatus of the Roman Army of the Mid-Republic, presented in the yellow-shield variation.
The Hastati belonged to a Roman military system that would be tested severely during conflicts such as the Second Punic War. Hannibal inflicted extraordinary defeats upon Roman armies, yet Rome continued raising forces and eventually carried the war into Carthaginian territory.
Individual soldiers such as the one represented here formed the manpower behind that remarkable ability to recover and continue fighting.
In a miniature army, HMRR-08Y works best as part of a larger formation. Mix him with other yellow-shield poses so that the front rank appears active and varied rather than perfectly duplicated.
A line of Hastati backed by command figures and additional Roman troops makes an impressive representation of the army that fought during one of the Republic's most important periods of expansion.
