HRSBUD-01B – Two United States Cavalry Horses
The popular image of the U.S. Cavalry on the western frontier often concentrates upon the troopers themselves, but the horse was fundamental to virtually every aspect of mounted operations.
HRSBUD-01B – Two United States Cavalry Horses provides a pair of mounts suited to John Jenkins Designs' Plains Wars and Battle of the Rosebud collection.
Cavalry horses carried troopers and their equipment across enormous distances, frequently over difficult country. Their condition could directly affect the mobility and effectiveness of an entire unit.
The Battle of the Rosebud, fought on 17 June 1876 in Montana Territory, saw Brigadier General George Crook's force clash with Lakota and Northern Cheyenne warriors only days before the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
These two horses can be positioned with dismounted cavalry, behind a firing line or as part of a horse-holding scene. Unmounted horses are particularly effective for showing that cavalry frequently fought on foot rather than always charging from the saddle.
