JR-23 – Lowland Infantry Attacking with Musket #1

The army of Bonnie Prince Charlie was not exclusively Highland. Lowland Scots also served the Jacobite cause, and their presence is essential to a more complete representation of the 1745 Rising.

JR-23 – Lowland Infantry Attacking with Musket #1 portrays one of these men advancing with his firearm.

Lowland units could display a more conventional infantry appearance than the clan regiments most popularly associated with the Jacobite cause. Their inclusion gives a miniature army greater historical depth and helps move beyond the familiar image of the Rising as purely a Highland affair.

The musket itself remained fundamental. Even among troops capable of closing with swords, firearms could be used during the approach and in exchanges before hand-to-hand fighting developed.

JR-23 can be paired with JR-24 and the later JR-27 Lowland figures to build a separate infantry formation alongside the Highland contingents.

Available from The Military Workshop – a distinctive John Jenkins Designs Lowland infantryman adding another important element to the Jacobite army of 1745–46.
