A battlefield seen through a spyglass was very different from the neat formations shown on a map.
Smoke, folds in the ground, villages and moving bodies of troops could make it extremely difficult for an officer to understand what was happening even a relatively short distance away.
LEUT-07 – French Officer with Spyglass captures this important command role.
The figure is ideal for a position behind the immediate firing line, perhaps on slightly elevated terrain where the officer is attempting to observe enemy movements. Place an aide, messenger or standard nearby and a small command vignette quickly develops.
The spyglass itself adds an excellent narrative detail. Instead of merely standing with sword drawn, the officer is actively observing the battlefield and attempting to gather information.
