Amid the smoke and confusion of an 18th-century battlefield, a regimental colour could serve as both a practical rallying point and a powerful symbol of unit identity.

LEUT-12 – French Standard Bearer places that role at the centre of the miniature.

Carrying a colour was an honour but could also be extremely dangerous. Standards naturally drew attention, and their loss to the enemy could be a serious humiliation.

In a display, the standard bearer should not simply be hidden among the ranks. Place him near the centre of the formation with officers and infantry around him, allowing the colour to identify the unit visually.

The height and movement of the standard also provide a welcome break from the horizontal lines of muskets and bayonets.
