M-WIN-22 – Highlander Charging with Sword
M-WIN-22 – Highlander Charging with Sword takes the British infantry away from ordered movement and directly into close combat.
Although the musket and bayonet were the standard weapons of British infantry, the basket-hilted broadsword retained strong cultural and military associations with Highland soldiers during the 18th century.
The charging pose gives the figure considerable energy. Place him towards the point of contact with the enemy while musket-armed Highlanders remain farther behind and the display begins to show different stages of the same attack.
Campaigns in India could bring British troops against formidable opponents employing cavalry, artillery and increasingly sophisticated infantry. Victory was never simply a matter of European troops confronting an outdated military system.
M-WIN-22 is therefore most effective as one participant within a larger, contested battlefield rather than as an isolated heroic figure.
Available through The Military Workshop – a dramatic John Jenkins Designs Highlander charging with sword, bringing close-quarter action to the wars fought for control and influence in India.
