MAD-03 – Madras Infantry Firing
The East India Company's armies depended upon Indian infantry trained to use the weapons and battlefield drill of contemporary line warfare.
MAD-03 – Madras Infantry Firing captures a Sepoy at the decisive moment of discharging his musket.
Madras troops served across southern India and farther afield during the long series of conflicts that accompanied the growth of Company power. They fought in campaigns involving powers such as Mysore and the Marathas, as well as in other operations throughout the region.
A firing pose is particularly valuable when combined with soldiers at different stages of action. MAD-04 can stand ready while another Sepoy loads or advances, giving the formation a more natural appearance than a line in which every weapon is discharged simultaneously.
The Madras Officer can be placed close behind or beside the firing infantry, tying the different figures together into an organised unit.
