MAD-04 – Madras Infantry Standing Ready

There is a moment before a volley when the infantry line is formed, weapons are prepared and the soldiers wait for the next command.

MAD-04 – Madras Infantry Standing Ready captures that quieter but tension-filled stage of battle.

The Madras Presidency Army formed one of the three major presidency armies maintained by the East India Company. Indian Sepoys provided the bulk of its manpower and served through generations of campaigning as Company influence expanded.

A standing-ready pose is particularly versatile because it does not restrict the figure to one precise instant. He can be waiting for an enemy attack, preparing to advance, guarding a position or standing within a reserve line.

Combine MAD-04 with MAD-03 firing and MAD-01 Sepoy, then place the Madras Officer nearby. The differing actions immediately produce a more convincing unit than repeating one firing pose across the entire formation.

Against Maratha, Mysorean or other appropriate forces, these Madras infantry figures can form the foundation of a substantial Anglo-Indian Wars collection.

Available through The Military Workshop – a versatile John Jenkins Designs Madras infantryman standing ready for action, representing the Indian soldiers who formed such an important part of East India Company military power.
