SFA057 – Kneeling Firing Downwards

During the defence of Rorke's Drift in January 1879, British soldiers fought from behind hastily constructed barricades of mealie bags and biscuit boxes. From these elevated defensive positions, riflemen often fired downward at attacking Zulu warriors, maintaining disciplined volleys despite being heavily outnumbered.
