JR-27A – Jacobite Lowland Infantry – Battle of Culloden
On 16 April 1746, the Jacobite army drew up on Culloden Moor outside Inverness for what would become the final major battle of the Rising.
JR-27A represents a member of the Jacobite Lowland Infantry at Culloden.
The battlefield conditions were poor for the Jacobites. The ground was wet and uneven, the army was tired and hungry, and government artillery opened an increasingly damaging bombardment while the Jacobite commanders struggled with the timing of their attack.
Lowland troops formed part of this wider army and provide an important counterpoint to the better-known Highland clan regiments.
JR-27A can be used individually to add another pose or combined with JR-27B and JR-27N to create a substantial Lowland contingent. Keeping them together as a recognisable formation gives the finished display greater historical clarity.
