Australian Light Horse
The Australian Light Horse were:
- Mounted infantry (not traditional cavalry)
- Part of the Australian Imperial Force
- Highly mobile troops used in the Middle East campaign
They fought mainly in:
- Egypt
- Sinai
- Palestine
What “Cavalry Officer Command” actually means
A Light Horse officer’s command role involved:
- Leading mounted infantry patrols and squadrons

- Coordinating charges, advances, or dismounted firefights
- Maintaining discipline and communication in desert warfare
They were trained to fight both:
